In 2024, we teamed up with Sutton Community Academy to take students on an unforgettable Caribbean Elective cultural and heritage trip, and let’s just say—it was one for the books! From learning Saint Lucian Kwéyòl under the island sun to tackling Splash Island’s inflatable obstacle course (spoiler: way harder than it looks), every moment was packed with adventure, learning, and a whole lot of fun.

Some of the highlights?

• Exploring the historic Pigeon Island, where students got a first-hand look at Saint Lucia’s complex past.
• Indulging in Saint Lucian cuisine, from fresh cassava treats at Plas Kassav to a full farm-to-table experience at Greenwood Terrace.
• Taking a dip in the famous drive-in volcano’s mud baths—because what’s a trip to Saint Lucia without a little natural spa treatment?
• Finding our rhythm in a drumming session with Niger Nestor and impressing locals with our Kwéyòl skills after just three classes!

Beyond the beaches and breathtaking views, this trip was about cultural immersion, connection, and discovering the global influences woven into Caribbean heritage. The students left not only with memories but with a deeper understanding of history, language, and community.

This trip was proudly curated in partnership with Twossaints, an organisation dedicated to preserving and celebrating Caribbean and African histories through education, language, food, and storytelling. From our immersive Kwéyòl language sessions to our Heritage Bites supper clubs, we create experiences that highlight the richness of our cultures while fostering connection and inclusivity.

We believe that understanding heritage is key to understanding ourselves. Whether through immersive travel experiences, hands-on workshops, and cultural exchanges, we create opportunities for students to connect with history in a meaningful way, ensuring that the stories, traditions, and legacies of the Caribbean are not only learned but truly experienced.
